Becoming a member

Anyone is able to join the German Library “Bücherwald”, it is not just for participants of DerDieDas programs. Your membership offers access to German books, CDs, DVDs and games. A membership is always for the whole family in one household, no matter how many participants. The membership is registered under one main household contact, who will receive all communication and must be over the age of 18. Memberships are digitally registered in the DerDieDas library system, without the need of a physical membership card. If you forget your digital membership card, you must identify yourself with a photo ID (e.g. drivers licence) in order to borrow books. Memberships are valid for one year and are automatically renewed annually until cancelled. By becoming a member of DerDieDas Bücherwald, you agree to adhere to these DerDieDas Bücherwald Terms and Conditions as well as DerDieDas Child Safe Standards. Register here before your first library visit.

Volunteering

DerDieDas Bücherwald is 100% volunteer run and we encourage all members to get involved. This is the spirit of our German library idea - to bring the community together, to create something great! While it is only a small contribution of your time throughout the year, we do offer an alternative membership option without volunteering at a higher cost. There are various volunteering tasks, which can range from support to run the library on Saturdays to background assistance with the maintenance of the inventory.

Costs

AUD 60 per year including a volunteering commitment

AUD 80 per year without a volunteering requirement

Memberships are valid for one year and are automatically renewed annually until cancelled.

Cancellation

Memberships can be cancelled anytime, effective at the end of the current membership year, either via the customer login portal or via Email to DerDieDasMelbourne@gmail.com
